Description
Best friends and roommates Audrey Barrett and Eve Dawson are looking forward to spending a frugal and understated Christmas in postwar America. But when the 1951 Sears Christmas Wish Book arrives and their five-year-old sons Bobby and Harry start hungering over every toy in it, Audrey and Eve realize their most important task is teaching them the true meaning of the holiday by giving presents, not just asking for them. Eve finds herself mired in guilt over a deception in her past and Audrey wishes to renounce her late husband's family wealth and live a life proscribed by hard work and thrift, situations that are preventing both women from embracing tentative new relationships.
